We are a fraternity of singers called the Northwest Vocal Project chorus, 50 guys that pride themselves on singing well and helping good singers become great. Many of our members also sing in smaller groups, ensembles and quartets that consider themselves part of NVP. This is the Northwest Vocal Project: to find, develop and provide a singing lifestyle for young men.
What We Do:
Perform – NVP lives to entertain. Showcasing intricate acapella arrangements combined with complex choreography, NVP blends youthful energy and professional precision to create a unique and unforgettable performance. We believe in working to raise our own money so that we grow and improve. Therefore, we have developed a genre-blending musical repertoire that fits any occasion. Contact us if you are interested in having NVP perform for your event!
Compete – NVP sees competition as a way to measure the growth of our ability to connect with and inspire the audience, so along with our performance goals, we compete professionally on an international level. Already in our short career we have traveled to Oregon, Idaho, California, and Texas to compete at several Barbershop Harmony Society conventions. In January 2009, NVP earned the title of International Barbershop Youth Chorus Champion at the annual competition held in Pasadena, CA. We are current Evergreen District Champs and Top 20 in the world.
Party – On and off the risers, we work hard to achieve our goals. However, we make sure that we play just as hard, so whether it’s a pick-up game of basketball, football or frisbee, an impromptu Halo 3 tournament, a Rock Band showdown, or a paintball war, we invariably find ways to have an awesome time with our brothers-in-harmony. We are a fraternal organization and love our camaraderie. It is this bond between all members of our chorus that drives us to perform at our personal best and support our brothers.
Educate – NVP is focused on making the individual singer a better performer by using one-on-one coaching, small group ensemble practice, and large chorus group training. We focus on a wide variety of music styles with an emphasis on barbershop harmony. In addition, we teach musicality, performance and singing ability. We also encourage our members not only to take charge of their own vocal training, but to assume leadership positions within the NVP organization. Our goal is to strengthen our individual singers beyond the realm of vocal performance.
